Fizzy Fact

Most Fizzy drinks have carbon dioxide dissolved in them. The reason they chose that gas is because it has the most  positive attributes for the lowest cost. Carbon dioxide dissolves the most without making the water poisous. Ammonia dissolves in water more than carbon dioxide but it makes the water slightly toxic. 

There are other gasses that can be added to flavoured water to make it fizzy and not toxic, you can add oxygen or nitrogen but they have their own issues, oxygen fizzy water tastes flat and makes the water taste oxidized.

Nitrogen gas costs more than carbon dioxide and it is more difficult to dissolve in water so it makes the water less fizzy and the bubbles are smaller so the foam caused by pouring the liquid lasts a long time. Some beer companies have been known to use Nitrogen instead of Carbon dioxide because they don't want a tangy taste and they want the pouring  foam to last a long time. 

Most carbon dioxide gas in fizzy drinks is a by-product of other industrial process so it is very cheap. They almost treat it like a waste product, yet for a fizzy drink it is the best gas to use, you get more fizz, a tangy taste from the drink and you get a longer shelf life because carbon dioxide is acidic when dissolved in water and that kills microbes.

Pier Trains

There are three piers in Britain that are known to have working railed trains running on them. The most famous one is Southend on sea. The pier itself is extremely long 2.15 km (1.34 miles) and the train will take you most of the way across the pier. They claim to be the longest pleasure pier in the world. From my experience, the starting platform at the beginning of the pier has the look and feel of an old subsurface metropolitan subway station. 

The Ryde Pier on the Isle of wight has a more practical pier train. It is used to bring people to the catamaran ferry that goes back to the mainland and the bring people from the ferry back to the coast.

Hyther pier in Hampshire is the oldest working pier train line in the world.

Skin

It is commonly believed that humans shed about 0.5 grams of dead skin every day. There are 365 days in a year so that means we shed 182.5 grams every year. Nearly 2 kilograms. It is possible for someone to shed their own weight in dead skin over a period of 35 years depending on how heavy they are.

182.5 ÷ 12 is about 15.2 grams every month.  Detatched dead skin usually exists as grey dust.

Dust isn't nice but don't let it get get under your skin.

Strange Metal

Bismouth is one of the most strange metals in the world. It is the metal with the most heat resistance and behaves a lot like lead. They are both side by side on the periodic table. 

When Bismouth is exposed to a magnetic field, it makes a copy of the field with the same  polarity causing it to push against it like two two north poles. The formal term for this effect is diamagnetism; it causes magnets to be repelled away. Bismouth is the most diamagnetic chemical element that we know of. It is possible to make Bismouth levitate above a magnetic field.

Bimouth has countless other strange properties like it expands when it solidifies making it less dense. Solid Bismouth would float in liquid bismouth just like ice floats in water.

According to my my research, the best foods to keep in storage if you're stocking up on emergency supplies is honey and dry grains.

Honey has no known expiry date; a jar of honey was found in an ancient Egyptian archeological site and it was still edible despite being over 3000 years old. 

Similarly, dried grains can last for years and are highly nutritious. You can store a variety of different grains together as long as they're kept dry.  

A Way Out

In Great Britain, all bar staff and premises that have a licence to serve alcohol are trained to respond to the phrase "Can I speak to Angela?" or "Is Angela there?". It is a code word for people that are being stalked or feel unsafe because of another person. If you say the phrase, they will take you to the staff room and lock you in there and ask if you want them to call the police or if you just want to wait there for a while until the person goes away or if you need a taxi.

In Britain there is also has a free telephone number you can call if you're going through a mental health crisis. It is the number 116 123; the number will go through to a Samaritans operator that will try help you escape suicidal thoughts or extreme stress without affecting your privacy. If you're  overcome by grief or dread, you can call them up and they will talk to you. The number is free and there are no strings attached.

In China in 2023, McDonald's released a fully licensed Tetris computer games console with its chicken nuggets meal.

It is a black and white LCD brick game similar to the stick man LCD games released by tiger electronics. It was flogged as the mc Nugget Tetris Game and even played the Tetris theme tune. 

I was happy with the Uno playing cards myself; I thought they were quite cool. Around the same time here in the UK I recall McDonald's giving away Uno card deck with the children's happy meal. It was smaller than the original Uno playing deck but it worked fine.

Texas is absolutely huge. Many countries would fit inside Texas. Germany, United Kingdom, Italy would all fit the area of Texas at the same time.

I searched Amazon and noticed it is possible to buy a prefabricated house for less than £10,000

You would need to buy land and have planning permission but the whole house would come through the post. Very cool. 

The price goes up with size but a lot of them are around £10,000 and have plenty of space. 

This one is twice the price but it has a porch and 2 or 3 bedrooms.

They all came to the conclusion that is varies from 100th of a kilowatt-hour to one tenth of a kilowatt-hour.

The AI systems agreed that the human brain uses about half a kilowatt-hour per day. The human brain is constantly processing image and sound information and controlling the body at the same time. The Human Brain does more processing work with less energy. It is a whole little world powered by an egg and cress sandwich. It hosts consciousness itself and countless thoughts. 

The Moon

Here are things you can do on the moon that you can't do on Earth. 

You can lift a car. If there was a car on the moon, you would probably be able to lift it because it would only be one sixth of its weight. It would still be very heavy though. 

On the moon you can build much taller buildings than on Earth because there is less pressure on the structures. It would be easy to have a building that was more that 1000 meters tall. On Earth it would be very difficult. 

You can see the stars the way they are in their true colour. During a moon night, the stars don't flicker, and you can see their colour the way it is; even the sun looks white on the moon because there is no air to scatter the blue portion of the light away from the light rays. 

On the moon you can leave a foot print or hand print and it can stay there for thousands of years because there is no air or rain to wash it away. 

On the moon you can enjoy a day that lasts for 2 weeks and a night that lasts for 2 weeks. One day on the moon lasts for 28 earth days (4 weeks). The day time is 2 weeks and the night time is 2 weeks.

According to various artificial intelligence systems, If an unbroken mesh of solar panels were suspended above the A1 motorway in Britain, it would produce about 2.6 Terawatt-hours of electricity every year. Enough to power nearly 1 million homes.

The A1 motorway is Britain's Longest road. It is 660km Long and usually about 25 to 30 meters wide.  It has a surface area of about 13.2 km². 

There are many more roads apart from A1, surely enough to power everything. 

Super Park

In London there are many parks, but there is one park that is so big it dwarfs a few countries. 

Richmond Royal park, London's biggest park is absolutely huge, 9.53 km². 

Central park in new work is also huge at 3.41 km² and could also contain the area of the two smallest countries in the world. The Vatican city's area is about 0.5 km². Monaco has a surface area of about 2 km²

Central park, Vatican city state and Monaco City state would all fit inside Richmond park and there would be plenty of space left over.

Gibraltar island is not a country but it would also fit in the area of Richmond Park. The land area of Gibraltar is 6.8 km². 

On top of everything, Richmond Park is considered to be a significant nature reserve filled with ancient trees and countless wild creatures that aren't found anywhere else in the area.

Coventry Light Tram

In the centre of England, In the small English city of Coventry, they are currently developing a small single car battery powered tram system called CVLR (Coventry Very Light Rail).

Hidden VMU

The DreamCast was so advanced that even the memory cards were games consoles in their own right. Certain games on the Sega would send an 8 bit game to the memory card and you could play a dot matrix side scrolling game similar to that of game boy game.

The Elizabeth line goes from Reading("reding") to Shienfield in Essex, 100 kilometres or 62 miles. (You would need to change trains at one of the tube stations to get to Shienfield.) It acts like a tube line for part of the journey but is more like a commuter train. It covers the whole journey in less than 1 and a half hours 

British Radio

Here in Britain DAB+ is the latest version of digital Radio and only works on radios that support DAB+. 

According to the DAB+ website, the sound quality of DAB+ is better despite requiring a lower data transmission rate, less than 64kb per second. At the time of writing this post, Britain intends to keep both technologies running. 

According to official documentation DAB+ uses the codec He aac V2, part of the MP4 framework. It has a much higher compression compared to the MP2 codec used by plain DAB. 

The drawback of this technology is the radio itself has to do more work. After extracting a data stream, microprocessor in the radio has to decompress the sound data and turn it back into sound waves.

Digital Radio

Digital Radio is different around the world, In most of Europe they use DAB+. MP4 the whole signal turns of and on in pulses to encode the characters in the data stream. This allows for more stations to be crammed into smaller bandwidths. The problem with this is you need to buy new radios to pick up the signal and the micro chip in the radio is working hard to decompress the signal. 

In the United States they use FM HD. In FM HD, the digital signal is hidden on either side of the FM frequency. So every FM station can have additional digital stations. It works a bit like Teletext. The signal can't be perceived in the FM but it is there and contains the digital sound codec. This system allows more FM stations to persist and still provide digital stations.  Ordinary FM transistor radios will still pick up the FM signal but you need new radios to pickup the additional digital stations.

New A.I. on the block

Meta, the company that owns Facebook and Instagram has joined the AI club. The A.I. software is called Meta A.I. and the interface runs inside the meta owned what's app messenger. 

I doesn't have all its features just yet but seems like a promising contender.

According to the judgement of most artificial intelligence systems, Bruce Springsteens song titled Born to Run is about being resilient and strong in the face of adversity.

Despite the Island of Britain being small; (less than 250,000 km² in area. The longest measurement of the island is less than 1000km) There are multiple sleeper trains available, the Caledonian Sleeper and Reviera Sleeper to name a few. You go on the train and sleep in a small hotel room overnight and wake up in the morning at your destination.

There is an artificial intelligence website that specialises is generating hollowed graphics that are suitable for colouring in. You could make your own colouring in book. You can even use pictures you have taken, or a command prompt to describe the image you want.

The song Tequila Sunrise by Eagles is a song about a man that can't hold down a long term relationship. He wants to stay with a woman but his relationships have all failed.

They didn't like him and were trying to make excuses to make him leave because he was dressed a bit scruffy and looked a bit drunk.
